Hello! My name is Emily Ellis and I am a 23 year old from Nebraska. In 2017 I graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. While getting my degree, I minored in Art and Psychology and emphasized in English. I didn't know what I wanted to do going into college, but I came out of it with a passion for corporate identity.
I currently use web design and development to help construct and strengthen companies coporate identies through an online presence. For the past 2+ years I've spent my days designing and coding websites for clients all over North America as a full-time interactive designer at Sandhills Global. As one can assume, the Adobe Suite is my best friend. On a daily basis I use Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat Pro. When starting a new project I will first talk with clients to get a feel of what they're looking for in a website. Then, I mockup a design for the site so the customer can give feedback before we ever start the building process. Once they approve of a final layout, I start building. With our company, clients can choose between an HTML or CMS website. I've built HTML, SilverStripe, and Wordpress websites and learned that all have their strenths and weaknesses.
Although I work in the web design department now, I'm also interested in the way a company chooses to portray themselves through other outlets. In the past I've been a Public Relations Intern, a Marketing Intern, and a Graphic Design Intern. My favorite part of all of these positions has been the task of finding creative solutions to problems. I believe that with anything in life, you're never stuck, you just need to be innovative.
